A vision for the future

Buildings and fabric have played an important part in the life of each generation of St Jo’s. From wooden church to brick, from ‘chall’ to the ‘new’ church, we have responded to God’s call to “build my church.”

In 2008 we continue to hear that challenge, and to invest in the resources we have so that the Church and Church Centre can be welcoming, accessible, and adaptable. Recent projects like the video projection and sound system have aided our worship life. The new footpath and benches have helped the local community and made the front of the church centre more attractive.

However there is a long way to go. There are areas of the church and church centre which are looking ‘tired.’ We have yet to fully realise the 1980s vision that the Church Centre be useable as a Day Centre, and in particular our catering and seating  facilities will need updating and renewing for this to be achieved. Through these and a number of other projects in the future we long that our buildings speak to people in the community about the goodness of God.
