Money @ St Jo’s
2008 – How are we spending our money?
We believe in being generous and seeking the best—as God is with us! That is why we give away at least 10% of our regular giving to support God’s work away from the church, both in the UK and around the world. At the same time we are committed to being realistic and reasonable with our finances. We recognise that people give sacrificially to the church, and so we need to use this money wisely and carefully.
2008 large budgeted expenditure include:
Diocesan Share – £48,200
Church Centre costs - £8,000
Parish Office costs - £4,000
Insurances - £1,100
Heating and Lighting - £2,500
Cleaning – £1,600
Church Repairs - £1,800
Clergy Expenses - £2,000
Others Expenses - £5,000
This expenditure is not including money spent from the “St Joseph’s Development Fund” which is used for the larger-scale maintenance and development of the fabric of the church and church centre. There is also a separate fund for Liz Pemberton as the Children & Families Worker.
2008 – How is our money coming in?
We are not a church with reserves or rich historic legacies! The majority of our income comes from the regular and committed giving of those who worship at St Joseph’s. Budgeted income for 2008 includes:
Sunday Collections & FWO envelopes - £48,700
Functions & other services - £1,500
Covenant Tax Rebate - £8,000
Rent of Church Hall - £9,500
Other sources of income include funeral fees and other fundraising events.
Gift Aid—making your money work harder….
The main reason we have a small surplus in the middle of the year comes from the Covenant Tax rebate, £7,000 has been received so far this year. We receive this based on the people who have Gift-Aided their offerings. It is self-evident the impact this money has in allowing us meet our needs, keep the Church in good repair and to continue growing our Church in the Merry Hill area.
We have a separate Covenant officer in Andrew Rock who handles all covenanting matters in a strictly private and confidential manner and would gladly walk/talk you through the simple procedure required to allow the Church to claim the tax relief on your Giving.
