Community Fun Day- Saturday 19th September

geoff.jellis | July 31, 2009

Thanks to a kind donation from the Church Urban Fund, we at St Jo’s have the opportunity to say goodbye to summer and hello to Autumn with a bang. On Saturday the 19th of September betweeen 12-3 we will be opening the doors  of the church to the people of Merry Hill and showing off all the things that happen in the church. And when you think about it an awful lot does happen, from weekly groups for the elderly, childrens groups to line dancing.

While we can’t promise to feed the 5,000 we will however feed the hungry shoppers at Merry Hill with a free barbecue, cafe and other tasty goodies. Whilst keeping them entertained with a host of music performances, childrens entertainment and talks. Plus a bouncy castle for those who wanting bouncing.

We still have a couple of gaps in the schedule, so if anyone has any great ideas regarding singers, talkers, actors and performers please get in touch.

Now its getting closer to the day we also need some volunteers to serve food (come on chaps there’s a barbecue to meet our primal cooking urges!) but also including non-barbecue food and to supervise  parts of the church e.g. bouncy castle, garden, cafe area etc

Please give me a call on 07792 908584 if you can help.

Many thanks

Geoff

Phil Leaving – Where’s the stuff?

Tim Oldham | July 20, 2009

OK, so you will have noticed that all the various things from last Sunday are not yet on here. Here’s the latest.

Many people should, I hope, have received an invitation to join a flickr group (called, originally, “St Jo’s Church, Merry Hill, Wolverhampton”) to see and post photos and videos. If you haven’t then (after checking any spam filters etc please) drop me a line.

We have a major technical problem with the audio from Sunday – everything else is crystal clear except for nothing from Phil’s microphone at all. I have to say I’m rather gutted about it but getting over it and hope to recover something at least.

I will post up the “Lean on me” video here when I’ve had permission from all the parents.

The Mrs Beamish video Phil played can be found here.

I think that’s the lot!

Phil’s Leaving Curry Bash

Tim Oldham | July 15, 2009

79 of St Jo’s most hardened Balti Palace regulars squeezed in to ensure that Phil got a great send-off! Here are some video highlights, not quite representative of the evening but good fun!

Get the Flash Player to see the wordTube Media Player.

(Don’t forget to scroll down to see all the videos).

Pictures to follow I hope!

Recent Services Audio

Tim Oldham | July 15, 2009

Sorry for the delay in providing the recent services – and in fact even now I have not had an opportunity to edit them down to a sensible size, sort out the clicks and volume and so on, but I do hope to do so and then publish properly as podcasts. In the meantime for those that would like a full download of the recent services, here you go:

Bulletin and Rota

Tim Oldham | July 5, 2009

Following massive demand I am going to try to keep this week’s bulletin and the current rota on the website. I’ll have to see if this works out over time as it’s another thing to keep up to date. Votes for which is more important – the “this sunday” page or the bulletin – please as I may only be able to do one or the other! (Unless I can persuade our wonderful parish office to do some maintenance for me!)
